It is important to know where you come from, but at T2B we feel it is just as important to know where you are going.

In 1997 Transition to Betterness was founded by two young local women Doris Lapico and Tania Sorge, sharing a similar story. Having their lives and families affected by cancer these two individuals felt the need to help others in their community who would also share a moment in the battle against cancer. From this a grass root organization that you now know as Transition to Betterness began and has touched many local families and patients. The mission of T2B would be to simply create a compassionate and homelike atmosphere within the hospital setting.

Since 1997 T2B has enhanced the hospital rooms at Windsor Regional Hospital Oncology Unit, Leamington Memorial District Hospital, most recently the new Paediatric Oncology Satellite Unit at Windsor Regional Hospital, and Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital. T2B has worked with The Hospice of Windsor in the efforts of building the new Hospice Village, and has also supported various programs (please see T2B programs for more information), while continuing our ongoing projects such as the Comfort Cart, Music Therapy, Comfort Blanket, and Special Requests Programs.

Transition to Betterness was founded in a community that is made up of strong hearts, motivated members, and pro-active citizens. The term “6 degrees of separation” is often used when people realize how small the world can be. However in Windsor Essex County the term “3 degrees of separation” is more often appropriate; because in some small way we all know each others families and friends, and we all have a similar story of sitting in a cold hospital room loving a Mother, Father, sibling, family member, child or friend. With the help of our community Transition to Betterness has succeeded in raising over 3.5 million dollars to benefit cancer patients and families in Windsor Essex County.

T2B’s mission is to provide cancer patients and their families a comfortable and compassionate hospital setting. In addition T2B is devoted to supporting other unique projects to benefit those touched by this disease. This is where T2B is going and we hope you will join us in our journey
