Transition to Betterness has excellent volunteering opportunities. Click on the links below and learn about the different ways you can get involved, and give back to your community.
- T2B Action Committee
Do you want to make a difference in our community? Get active and become a T2B Action Committee Member Today!
The action committee (A/C) is the heart of T2B, and currently involves 29 dedicated volunteers from Windsor and Essex County. The Action Committee meets approximately every 2 or 3 weeks throughout the year. At these meetings they discuss and plan upcoming events, and create the blueprints to how the events will be carried out. As a volunteer they come out to as many events as they can. They do work hard throughout the year; but they also get to take part in our impressive fundraisers, meet new people, and of course receive great pride in what we are able to accomplish from all of our efforts. T2B could not perform event after event without the foundation of the Action Committee. Meetings take place at 7pm at the Ciociaro Club located at, 3745 North Talbot Road.

- T2B Comfort Cart Volunteer
A little bit of sweets, and a lot of care from these volunteers goes along way.
The Comfort Food Cart is based out of Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan (1995 Lens Avenue) & Western Campuses (1453 Prince Road). The Comfort Food Cart runs completely through volunteers, and operates from Tuesday to Friday at both campuses. The volunteers serve complimentary fresh fruits, frozen yogurts, desserts, juices, to the patients and their families on the oncology palliative care units. The great catch to volunteering with the Comfort Cart is that you do it as often as you want to. This could mean that you volunteer once a week or once a month. The time that you go on the actual day that you have been scheduled for, is up to you as well. You can go in the morning, afternoon, or evening according to your work or outside schedule. The Comfort Cart is one of T2B's most successful programs. Often the patients are heard saying "Here Comes the Angels", when they see the T2B volunteers coming down the hallway.

Comfort Cart Testimonial
My name is Lisa Lucente. I have been involved with the comfort cart since its inception in 2002. I am greatly honored to be able to represent Transition to Betterness in this facet. I was definitely not without reservation when I decided to undertake this task. Cancer is definitely a grave disease and I was unsure of how I would be able to face these individuals knowing all that this ailment demands. Originally I was shy and so were the patients. I decided to throw around the words FREE food. This definitely peaked interest. More and more patients and their families began to indulge in the goodies we had to offer. Soon I was come to be known as an angel; many patients anticipating my arrival. One cannot even imagine being bestowed such a title by such heroic individuals. It is easy to sense the appreciation of all for providing these offerings. Food is known to provide comfort and in this environment comfort is what is sought after. I truly believe that the comfort cart is instrumental in making distressing situations more bearable.
The renewed outlook I have toward such a meager duty is indescribable. I assure you that I benefit far more than the patient from these brief encounters. Who could have imagined that a frozen yogurt or a bottle of juice could touch soooo many hearts, mine included. Those who have chosen to support this endeavour should be highly commended. My articulacy cannot even begin to describe all that these donors have presented to the patients of Windsor Regional Hospital. Thank you for both your generosity and allowing me to be a represented for you.

- T2B Gala Planning Committee
The gala planning committee acts much like the action committee. Gala Planning runs from late August to January, and currently consist of 30 individuals. The gala is T2B's biggest event of the year, and is held the last Saturday of January each year. The event host 1200 people, and is always a matchless in evening. The meeting times for the gala are by bi-weekly in August, and become weekly in November. Countless hours are put into planning and organizing this event. The gala is always a huge success for T2B, and is a great way to become involved T2B.
To get involved please contact the T2B office at (519) 944-5143, or email info@t2b.ca.
- Host your own Third Party Event
Hosting you own event can be a lot of fun, and it always leaves you feeling great. Hosting your own Third Party Event can be as simple as having a backyard party and donating the proceeds to T2B. You can host a garage sale, golf tournament, or bring Denim Days to your office (every Friday have a denim day and ask the employees at your office to donate a $1 to T2B). Anyone can host a third party event. You can do it if you are a teacher, a parent, a student, a member of a card group. It is all about taking the initiative and making a difference. If you would like more information about hosting you own event with proceeds going to a T2B program please contact the T2B office at (519) 944-5143, or via email info@t2b.ca.
