Connecting for Comfort Program
Category: Palliative | Oncology
Location: Windsor regional hospital & & Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare sponsor: The Ride to Survive & The Stephanie and Barry Zekelman Foundation
Project Overview
The Connecting for Comfort Program provides patients and hospital staff with access to the supportive technology iPads offer, with FaceTime serving as the primary tool to help patients stay connected with their loved ones. In addition, iPads assist hospital teams through translation services, appointment booking, and improved communication between healthcare providers and families, creating a more compassionate and connected care experience.
In December 2020, T2B distributed more than 70 additional iPads to Windsor Regional Hospital, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, and Erie Shores HealthCare, an undertaking that became especially meaningful during the pandemic when hospital visits were limited. The donation to Windsor Regional Hospital was made possible through proceeds raised at The Ride to Survive event, chaired by David Hunter and Robert Pula, with remaining funds supporting T2B’s ongoing programs. When the program needed to expand again, The Stephanie and Barry Zekelman Foundation generously matched the donation, ensuring more patients could experience connection and comfort during healing. The program is supported through title sponsorship by The Ride to Survive and The Stephanie and Barry Zekelman Foundation.
